Hardware

Face Recognition Terminals — Contactless verification that works with gloves, dust and worn hands

The default choice for UAE industrial, construction and healthcare sites, and increasingly for offices where staff resist touch readers.
  • Supply or supply & install
  • All 7 emirates
  • Free site survey

Where this technology wins

  • Fully contactless — no hygiene objection, no shared touch surface
  • Unaffected by gloves, dust, oil, cuts or worn fingerprints
  • Fast enough for shift-change surges (typically under a second per person)
  • Works with safety helmets and standard face masks on current terminals
  • Hardest of the common technologies to defeat with a photo, given liveness detection

Where it struggles — read this before ordering

  • Higher unit cost than fingerprint or card readers
  • Needs sensible placement — direct sun or strong backlight on the lens degrades accuracy
  • Full-face protection such as welding shields or respirators will not verify
  • Requires a mounting height appropriate to your workforce; a single fixed height suits a narrower range of people than you would expect

Typical deployment: Main entrances, site and accommodation gates, production floor entrances, and any environment where fingerprint enrolment fails on a meaningful share of staff.

Device types

Specifications

Capacities and connectivity are shown as typical ranges across the models we stock. Your quotation names the exact model and its firm specification — we confirm stock and lead time before you commit.

Compact Face Terminal

Small-footprint indoor terminal for offices, outlets and clinics

Specification

Face capacity
Typically 1,500 – 3,000 templates
Log capacity
100,000+ transactions
Verification speed
< 1 second
Connectivity
TCP/IP, Wi-Fi; 4G on selected models
Additional credentials
RFID card, PIN
Display
Colour touchscreen, typically 4–5 inch
Mounting
Wall or desk stand, indoor
Access control
Relay output for electric lock (model dependent)

Best for

  • Retail outlets
  • Clinics and salons
  • Small offices
  • Branch locations

Our note

The usual choice for single-entrance businesses under about 150 staff. Indoor rated — do not specify this for an unshaded outdoor gate.

Industrial / Outdoor Face Terminal

IP-rated terminal built for gates, yards and production entrances

Specification

Face capacity
Typically 5,000 – 50,000 templates
Log capacity
200,000+ transactions
Ingress protection
IP65 or better
Operating temperature
Rated for UAE ambient ranges; shaded mounting advised
Connectivity
TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, 4G, RS485
Offline buffering
Full local storage with sync on reconnection
Additional credentials
RFID card, PIN, fingerprint (model dependent)
Access control
Relay outputs for locks, barriers and turnstiles

Best for

  • Construction site gates
  • Labour accommodations
  • Factory entrances
  • Warehouse yards

Our note

Specify this — not an indoor unit — for anything outdoors. A standard indoor terminal on an exposed UAE gate is a specification error that fails in its first summer.

High-Capacity Face Terminal

Large-workforce terminal for high-throughput entrances

Specification

Face capacity
Typically 20,000 – 100,000 templates
Recognition distance
Approx. 0.3 – 3 m, model dependent
Throughput
Designed for continuous shift-change flow
Connectivity
TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, 4G
Mask & helmet
Recognition with standard mask and safety helmet
Liveness detection
Anti-spoofing against photo and video
Integration
Turnstile, speed gate and barrier control

Best for

  • Large factories
  • Turnstile lobbies
  • Multi-thousand headcount sites
  • Port and terminal gates

Our note

Throughput, not headcount, drives quantity. Plan one terminal per 80–100 people arriving in the same ten-minute window.

Questions

Face Recognition Terminals — FAQ

Can someone fool face recognition with a photograph?

Current-generation terminals include liveness detection that distinguishes a live face from a printed photo or a screen, so a casual attempt fails. No biometric is absolutely unspoofable, but in practice face recognition with liveness detection is considerably harder to defeat than a shared card or PIN, which is the realistic alternative.

Does it work with a face mask or a safety helmet?

Yes on current terminals, which map the periocular region around the eyes. Full-face protection — welding shields, respirators, full-face helmets — will not verify, and for those roles we pair the terminal with a card or palm reader at the same entrance.

Is a photo of every employee stored on the device?

Terminals store an irreversible mathematical template derived from facial geometry, not a photograph that could be recovered. Some systems optionally capture a verification snapshot for audit, which is a configurable setting you can turn off. This distinction matters for your data protection position and we cover it during handover.

Where should the terminal be mounted?

At a height suited to the range of your workforce, out of direct sun and away from strong backlight such as a glass door behind the user. Placement affects day-to-day reliability more than the choice of model does, which is the main thing a site survey is for.
