What goes wrong
The four problems hospitality operations keep hitting
Departments run incompatible rotas
Housekeeping, kitchen, front office and security each operate a different shift pattern within the same property, and a single-rota system forces HR to manage the differences manually.
Casual and seasonal staff churn constantly
Banqueting and peak-season casual labour means constant enrolment and de-activation. Without expiry dates on records, the staff list silently fills with people who left months ago.
Back-of-house areas need real access control
Stores, cellars, cash rooms and staff entrances need controlled and logged access. Running that separately from attendance duplicates both enrolment work and hardware.
Face recognition at the staff entrance combined with card-based door access on back-of-house areas, on one shared credential database
One enrolment per employee covers both attendance and door access, and expiry dates on casual staff records keep the database clean without manual housekeeping.
This is our default starting point for hospitality, not a fixed answer. The survey exists to confirm or overturn it against your actual site.

Questions
Hospitality — FAQ
Can different departments have completely different shift rules?
Yes. Rotas, overtime rules, grace periods and break deductions are configured per department or per employee group. Housekeeping and front office can run entirely different patterns within the same property and the same reporting structure.
How do we handle banqueting casuals who work three days a month?
Enrol them once with an expiry date and a casual employment type. They are excluded from salaried payroll reports and reported separately on hours worked. If they return next season you reactivate rather than re-enrol, so the biometric template is retained.
Can we use the same system for staff lockers and stores?
Yes. Door controllers on back-of-house doors use the same employee database and the same credential as the attendance terminal, with access rights set per door and per time window. Access events are logged alongside attendance for investigation purposes.
