Fingerprint & Palm Readers — Proven, cost-effective biometrics — where the workforce suits them
- Supply or supply & install
- All 7 emirates
- Free site survey
Where this technology wins
- Lowest cost per device of any biometric technology
- Well understood by staff, minimal training needed
- Compact and discreet; suits reception and office door placement
- Palm vein variants read beneath the skin surface and avoid most fingerprint problems
- Mature, reliable technology with wide device availability
Where it struggles — read this before ordering
- Worn fingerprints from manual labour cause genuine enrolment failures — commonly a noticeable share of a construction or factory workforce
- Defeated by gloves, dust, oil, moisture and cuts
- Touch surface raises hygiene objections in clinical and food environments
- Slower throughput than contactless at shift change
- Optical sensors need periodic cleaning to maintain accuracy
Typical deployment: Offices, clinics, retail back offices, schools and any environment where hands are clean and ungloved. Test enrolment on your actual workforce before committing to it at scale.
Device types
Specifications
Standard Fingerprint Terminal
Entry-level attendance terminal for offices and small teams
Specification
- Fingerprint capacity
- Typically 1,000 – 3,000 templates
- Log capacity
- 50,000 – 100,000 transactions
- Sensor
- Optical
- Verification speed
- < 1 second
- Connectivity
- TCP/IP, USB; Wi-Fi on selected models
- Additional credentials
- RFID card, PIN
- Access control
- Relay output on selected models
Best for
- Small offices
- Retail back office
- Clinics
- Professional services
Our note
The lowest-cost route to verified attendance. Appropriate for clean-handed workforces under about 100 staff at a single entrance.
Multi-Modal Terminal (Fingerprint + Face + Card)
Covers the staff who cannot enrol on a single technology
Specification
- Fingerprint capacity
- Typically 3,000 – 10,000 templates
- Face capacity
- Typically 1,500 – 6,000 templates
- Card
- 125kHz EM / 13.56MHz Mifare (model dependent)
- Connectivity
- TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, 4G on selected models
- Verification modes
- Any single credential, or combined for higher security
- Access control
- Relay outputs, door sensor, exit button
Best for
- Mixed workforces
- Sites with enrolment failures
- Offices adding door access
- Contractor management
Our note
The pragmatic choice for most UAE sites. One device covers the majority on fingerprint or face and the residual minority on card, without buying two systems.
Palm Vein / Palm Reader
Contactless palm reading for difficult and hygiene-sensitive environments
Specification
- Palm capacity
- Typically 3,000 – 10,000 templates
- Reading method
- Contactless near-infrared vein pattern
- Verification speed
- < 1 second
- Hygiene
- No contact with the reader surface
- Connectivity
- TCP/IP, Wi-Fi
- Additional credentials
- Card and PIN on selected models
Best for
- Food processing
- Healthcare
- Labs and cleanrooms
- Workforces with worn fingerprints
Our note
Reads the vein pattern beneath the skin, so surface wear, dust and minor cuts are irrelevant. More expensive than fingerprint and less common than face, but the right answer for specific hygiene and enrolment problems.

Questions
Fingerprint & Palm Readers — FAQ
What proportion of our staff might fail fingerprint enrolment?
It depends entirely on the work they do. Office workforces enrol almost universally. Manual workforces — construction, heavy industry, cleaning with chemicals — show meaningful failure rates from worn ridges, and we have seen this be a significant minority of a site. We test a sample of your actual staff during the survey rather than quote you a statistic, because the statistic that matters is yours.
Is fingerprint good enough, or should we pay more for face?
For a clean-handed office workforce at a single entrance, fingerprint is entirely adequate and we will tell you so rather than upsell. Pay for face where hands are gloved, dusty or worn, where hygiene rules apply, or where shift-change throughput matters. Those are real reasons; a general preference for newer technology is not.
Can we mix technologies across our sites?
Yes, and most multi-site clients do. Fingerprint at the head office, face at the factory gate, mobile for field staff — all feeding one attendance database and one payroll export. There is no requirement to standardise on one device type.
Is the actual fingerprint image stored?
No. Terminals store an irreversible mathematical template from which the original fingerprint cannot be reconstructed. This is worth stating clearly to staff during rollout — it addresses the most common objection and is simply true.
