Solution
Measure overtime instead of paying what is claimed

Why this comes up
Where overtime is self-reported or supervisor-approved after the fact, it grows. UAE Labour Law rates of 125% and 150% applied to unverified hours across a large workforce turn a process gap into a significant recurring cost, and the figures are almost impossible to challenge retrospectively because no independent record exists.
Our approach
How we solve it
- 01
Derive overtime from actual punches
Overtime is calculated from verified in and out times against contracted hours, not from a claim form. The number is a measurement rather than an assertion.
- 02
Apply the correct statutory rate automatically
UAE Labour Law provides for overtime at 125% of the basic wage, rising to 150% for hours worked between 10pm and 4am on standard day shifts, with separate treatment for rest days and public holidays. Rules are configured per employee group to match your contracts.
- 03
Approve before the cost, not after
Optional pre-approval means overtime beyond a threshold requires manager sign-off before it is worked. This is the control that actually reduces the bill, rather than reporting on it afterwards.
- 04
Monitor statutory limits
Daily and weekly maximum working hours and mandatory rest breaks are monitored, with alerts when an employee is approaching a limit — a compliance exposure as well as a welfare one.

Questions
Overtime — FAQ
How much overtime cost should we realistically expect to recover?
We will not quote you a percentage — anyone who does is guessing at your business. What consistently happens is that the first cycle after installation surfaces a gap between claimed and measured hours, and that gap is where your saving sits. The size depends entirely on how loose the current process is.
Can we require approval before overtime is worked?
Yes. Set a threshold beyond which overtime requires manager approval in advance. Hours worked without approval are still recorded and flagged, so you see them and decide — they are not silently discarded, which would create a different dispute.
Does the system handle rest day and public holiday work?
Yes, as configured rules per employee group. UAE Labour Law treats rest day and public holiday work distinctly from ordinary overtime, including compensatory rest entitlements. We configure this to match your contracts and recommend your PRO or legal adviser confirm the interpretation.
