The problem

Why this comes up

Under the UAE Wage Protection System, employers must pay registered salaries through an approved agent and submit a Salary Information File. The file itself is only as good as the hours behind it. Where attendance lives on paper or in spreadsheets, the variable elements — overtime, unpaid absence, deductions — are transcribed by hand each month. That transcription is where errors enter, and a rejected or incorrect WPS submission is both an administrative burden and a compliance exposure.

Our approach

How we solve it

  1. 01

    Capture verified hours at source

Every punch is biometrically verified and tied to an employee record with a device ID and timestamp. There is no intermediate timesheet for someone to adjust informally, which is where most payroll discrepancies begin.

  2. 02

    Apply your pay rules automatically

Contracted hours, grace periods, break deductions, overtime at 125% and 150%, and unpaid absence are applied as configured rules rather than as monthly manual judgement. The same rule produces the same result every cycle.

  3. 03

Export the SIF, don't retype it

The system generates the Salary Information File in the required format with employee ID, salary components and the variable pay derived from actual attendance, ready for your WPS agent or exchange house.

  4. 04

Keep the evidence behind every figure

Each line in the payroll run drills back to the punches that produced it. If an employee or an inspector questions a figure, the answer is a report rather than an investigation.

Questions

WPS & Payroll — FAQ

Does the system submit to WPS on our behalf?

No, and be cautious of anyone who claims to. Submission goes through your bank or an approved WPS agent. What the system does is produce the correctly formatted SIF file with accurate variable pay derived from real attendance, which is the part that actually causes problems.

We already use a payroll system. Does this replace it?

It does not have to. Most clients keep their payroll system and feed it verified hours and overtime from attendance, either by scheduled export or by API on the higher tiers. Replacing a working payroll system is rarely the right move.

How are the 125% and 150% overtime rates applied?

UAE Labour Law provides for overtime at 125% of the basic wage in normal circumstances, rising to 150% for hours worked between 10pm and 4am on standard shifts, and rest day and public holiday work is compensated separately. The rules are configured per employee group to match your contracts. We set the configuration up with you and recommend your PRO or legal adviser confirm the interpretation against your specific contracts.
