What Abu Dhabi adds to the problem
Abu Dhabi employers tend to have two attendance problems at once: a head office that needs clean payroll data, and labour accommodations or remote sites where the real workforce is. Contracting and industrial clients here also face audit scrutiny from main contractors and government clients that a spreadsheet cannot survive. We design for the audit trail first, then the payroll export.
- ICAD and KIZAD sites require zone authority access permits for engineers — allow an extra working day for first mobilisation.
- Main-contractor and government audits typically require an immutable punch log with manual edits separately flagged; the software is configured this way by default.
- Al Ain and Al Dhafra installations are normally combined survey-plus-install trips to avoid duplicate mobilisation charges.
What corporate operations run into
The lobby turnstile belongs to the landlord
In most Business Bay, DIFC and JLT towers the building access system is not yours and will not export attendance data to you. Your attendance system has to live inside your tenancy, at your own entrance.
Hybrid and client-site working breaks gate-based attendance
Staff working from home or at a client office have no gate to punch. Without a mobile option the attendance record simply has holes in it, and HR fills them manually — which defeats the purpose.
Professional staff resist fingerprint scanners
In white-collar environments a shared touch reader at the entrance meets real resistance. Contactless face recognition or card-based access is adopted far more readily and avoids the hygiene objection entirely.
Slim face recognition terminal or card reader at the tenancy entrance, paired with a geofenced mobile app for hybrid and client-site staff
Covers office, home and client-site working in one record, without depending on landlord infrastructure and without the staff resistance a shared fingerprint reader attracts.

A Abu Dhabi example
Civil contractor with 6 labour accommodations, Mussafah
Rugged fingerprint and face terminals at accommodation gates plus site-level mobile clock-in for supervisors. Headcount reconciliation between camp, bus and site — previously a manual morning exercise — now runs as a single report, which mattered most during client and authority audits.
Fingerprint + face · 14 devices · on-premise server · bus manifest reports

Questions
Corporate attendance in Abu Dhabi — FAQ
Can staff clock in from home or a client site?
Yes, via the mobile app with GPS geofencing. You define the permitted locations — home working can be allowed with a location stamp, or restricted to named client sites. The punch records which location it came from, so the record is auditable rather than simply trusted.
Our building has its own access card system. Do we need separate devices?
Almost always yes for attendance. Landlord systems are built for building security, not tenant payroll, and rarely export usable attendance data. We install your own terminal inside your tenancy. Where the landlord permits credential sharing, staff carry one card — but confirm this at survey rather than assuming it.
Is biometric data storage legal in the UAE?
Yes, with proper handling. UAE data protection law treats biometric data as sensitive personal data requiring a lawful basis, employee notice and appropriate security. Modern terminals store an irreversible mathematical template rather than a fingerprint or photograph, which materially reduces exposure. We provide a template employee consent notice and can deploy on-premise where you need data to remain on your own server.
Do you cover Al Ain and the Western Region?
Yes. Al Ain and Al Dhafra including Ruwais are served from our Abu Dhabi operation. Survey lead time is two to three working days rather than same-day, and for remote sites we normally combine the survey and installation into a single mobilisation to keep your cost down.
Can the system produce the attendance audit trail our main contractor asks for?
Yes, and this is the most common reason Abu Dhabi contractors call us. The software retains an immutable punch log per worker with device ID, timestamp and verification method, exportable to Excel or PDF per project, per cost code or per date range. Manual edits are permitted only with a reason code and are shown separately from device punches, which is what auditors look for.
